Dr. Dorothy Birmingham, Ed.D, LPC

Dr. Dorothy Birmingham is the High School Assistant Principal at Young Women’s College Preparatory Academy in Houston ISD. She has spent 14 years in education, including seven years as an English Language Arts teacher and several years as a school counselor before moving into campus leadership.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in Reading and Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas Southern University, a master’s in School Counseling, a Master’s in Educational Administration from Lamar University, and later her doctorate in Mental Health and Human Services from Houston Baptist University. As a Licensed Therapist, she brings both educational and mental health expertise to her work with students.

Dr. Birmingham is passionate about helping students grow academically and emotionally, supporting teachers, and making sure everyone feels seen, supported, and capable of success.
