School History
In 2011, the Young Women’s College Preparatory Academy (YWCPA), an all-girls, college preparatory, 6th-12th grade school, was established as a public-private partnership between the Houston Independent School District and YWPN.
Located in the historic Third Ward community of Houston, YWCPA strives to empower its students to believe they can be anything they want to be – Including college graduates and leaders in STEM fields.
YWCPA students are actively engaged in a robust college readiness program designed to create a seamless pathway from middle school through the attainment of a college degree.
The majority of YWCPA students will be the first in their families to attend and graduate from college. Since the school’s inception, 100% of students from every YWCPA graduating class have been accepted to college.
In addition, 100% of students are engaged in a STEM curriculum with a focus on one of five pathways: engineering, biotechnology, mathematics, science, or multi-STEM.
